My debut novel, Broken, was published in the Uk, US and Canada and shortlisted for The Authors' Club Best First Novel Award 2009 and Commonwealth Writers' Prize Best First Novel Award 2009.

I have also had short stories and poetry published and articles of mine have appeared in, among others, The Financial Times, fifthestate.co.uk, and Writers' Forum.

My second novel, Swap, is due out next year and I also write a weekly column for hedgeendpeople.co.uk.

As well as this I teach creative writing for Writers' News and talk/teach at writers' conferences, especially on how to escape the slush pile and keep going in the face of rejection.

I'm really interested in commercial literary fiction, what's causing a buzz behind the scenes, and the nuts and bolts of what works and what doesn't when writing fiction.
